HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! In honour of such a wonderful year, we made a little video
We also recorded a cover tune (for fun) for your pleasure and enjoyment: thank you!
Wishing you and yours a wonderful 2010, and we'll see you on the road! MH & the VC xoxo

Basically we're selling the 3 albums together for a great price that INCLUDES shipping AND a homemade holiday card custom-made for your specific holiday/friend.
In the meantime, everything is great. Rollin along with vim and vigour. Have you visited the beauteous city of Kingston, yet? Ever? You should. It's delightful.
See you soon, friends! MH
Well, 2009 has been an incredible year. You might wonder why I'm already in recap mode, but the truth is that I recently relocated to Kingston, Ontario, and we've all taken a bit of a break. Don't worry, nothing's changed - the band is still the same group, and we have touring plans for 2010 (details to come probably in the new year). We're just taking a bit of a breather, and I'm writing new music. See Your Midnight Breath in the Shipyard continues to do really well getting frequent play on CBC Radio 1 and CBC Radio 2 and campus stations. And reviews keep coming in.
In the meantime, Bartle is touring with Entire Cities, Craig is working on his own stuff and I'm writing new songs and learning to live in a new city. I love Kingston so far. A lot. xo
Hi folks. I updated the Press section and some upcoming shows. I am smiling in my boots to be opening for the lurvely Pink Mountaintops at the Horseshoe. Just chuffed. Equally stoked to be playing at the CBC Radio 3 Searchlight Celebration for Phog Lounge's Best Live Music Venue with Holy FuckArkells and a billion others in Windsor on July 11th. That will be a crazy show for the records. Apparently our nice friend Ron Marston has compiled a bunch of pictues he's taken and made them into Phog Lounge postcards that you can purchase. The first set are women from Phog, and yours truly is a featured face. If anybody in Windsor sees them selling out before July 11th, please get me a pack so I can have one for the memory box!!
I haven't even mentioned NXNE, yet. Have you seen who we're playing with? Old friends Caledonia (Halifax) and Olenka & the Autumn Lovers (London). PLUS Ghost Bees, Emma-Lee and a band called Kyra & Tully. I don't know if that was planned, or if the Universe just aligned to create an unbelievable line-up, but there you have it. It's pretty ridiculous.
First things first. My last (scheduled) Residency show at Tranzac is this coming Wednesday, June 10th with the terrific Matthew de Zoete (from Hamilton). 7:30pm-9:30pm. Come 'n holler for what has been a beautiful time at one of my fave places to play.
ps me n Ben made stovetop popcorn the old-fashioned way last night. It was amazing - shoot me an email if you want instructions, or just go to my facebook page where we documented it. (Because we're super geeks.)
Love, MH xxx
Thanks to all the folks who came to all the shows on the recent SYMBitS tour! A few kinks in the road, including poor Craigy's herniated disc flareup (I did the last three shows solo), a couple of Van-won't-start moments, playing a quietish set alone following a couple of heavy trash bands.. One day I might write a bigger recap. Or else we'll leave the road on the road. ;)
Anyhow, here we are back at home. We've been resting and preparing for some upcoming shows. Tonight I'll play at Hugh's Room for the first time, opening up the night for Royal Wood's EP release.
Next week the band plays the Alli's Journey Fundraiser at Centre for the Performing Arts, supporting Young Adult Cancer. I also have my regular monthly residency at Tranzac on Thursday, and the Pitter Patter Fest on Friday night @ Bread & Circus!
So lots on the go leading up to NXNE in June. Hope everybody's enjoying this beaoooooootiful weather. xo

See Your Midnight Breath in the Shipyard is out today.
We'll celebrate in Toronto by having a release party at the Rivoli on Thursday, April 9th, followed by touring through Ontario and Quebec (please see the tour dates on the group page).
But for those of you who are unable to come out to shows, here's the link to get it from Scratch!

I have not updated this site in a long time. Very sorry about that - we've been pretty busy!
The new album See Your Midnight Breath in the Shipyard drops April 7, 2009! There will be a Toronto CD release party followed by touring in Quebec and Ontario. I'll put those tour dates up as soon as we have the whole thing. (Soon!)
In other news, there are some shows leading up to the release... I begin a solo(ish) residency at the Tranzac starting in February - last Thursday of the month - and I'm going to use it as an opportunity to play new songs and try out new ways of doing the old songs. Or not. Maybe we'll have the band sometimes...?? :)
We will showcase at CMW at the Rancho Relaxo on Thursday, March 12th at 11pm!
OK.... I think that's good for now. Thank you so much to everyone who came to the FM Holiday Party at the Boat this past December - we raised a good bunch of $ for the Music Therapy Program at SickKids - and we'll continue to do that every year, I think. xoxo
OK. We are putting the nations back into donations. If you would like to help us get this next record finished, we would be so thankful. Every bit counts, as we finance all of this all ourselves. With the help of VISA, of course. ;) Please let me know if you make a donation - meganhamiltonmusic [at] gmail [dot] com - and I'll include your name in the liner notes.
Hope to see you Saturday night at the Rancho! <3MH
Lawd, the intensity. We tracked, seriously, 14 songs last week. In five days. Strip clubs, sneaking into Hiltons, no accordions, cracking up at the piano, 6am guitar solos, sleeping on the floor, Rushmore, brewdawgs, trail mix, hand delivered lip balm, SUPERSTORE, McDonald's (not I), doughnuts, laptops, Steve, Star Wars figures for hours and hours, Ben Stiller movies, beautiful men, dancers, terrible salads (I mean atrocious). Incredible achievement.
Tonight I go back to do creative messing around this weekend. More news as it breaks... <3MH
Thanks to everyone who came out to the Boat on Sunday night - we played all the new songs that we'll start recording this coming weekend. Check out this great telling of the night by one Jennifer Polk - The first recording leg will be in London, ON with some guy named Mark Vogelsang. He looks pretty fishy to me, but we'll see what that guy is all about... Wish us luck!
There was a lovely review of how we think about light at torontoindie.com .
We had a good time this spring rolling through Ontario and eating piles and piles doughnuts. Have I introduced the band, yet? Steve Puchalski on keys, Craig Browne on guitar, Adam White on bass and Andrew Sadoway on drums.
We have no shows booked, which feels totally weird. But it's good - it's on purpose. We will certainly play if something comes along, but for now, we're learning the new songs so that we can make another record. And that should be happening over the course of time.
The STEEL LION BURNING TRAIN tour is fast approaching. New dates are being added constantly, so keep checking back to see when we'll hit your town!
February was fun! Thanks to everyone who came out to the Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield - I always love playing there, and it was a cozy, jam-packed house. Thanks always to Paul at the Sheep, Lindsay Ferguson, Dave Aardvark at CHUO in Ottawa, and the CBC. Wavelength was a terrific show, and we loved playing with the fantastic Jane Vain & the Dark Matter, and I had a nice time at Box Salon watching some lovely films, listening to Carl Wilson read from his new book and playing a few tunes.
The band and I have been rehearsing and getting ready for our upcoming Spring tour dates through Southern Ontario with Deromantic (full dates TBA very soon), and we're all getting ready to begin recording the next album. And not only that, but the warm weather is just around the corner. Things are good. :)
Thanks to everyone who came out to our FM Holiday Party - it was a great, fun night, and you all helped raise money for the Music Therapy Program at SickKids. Funny, I just found one of my cat's whisker's on my computer keyboard at work.
2007 was a great year filled with a lot of moments. haha. And, so of course it was. I'm bundling up and bunkering down over the next couple of months, so there aren't any shows scheduled until February. But check those ones out - they're all pretty fun.
Hiya - we've got a few shows in Ontario in December - check out the shows section...
We made the national college radio charts for September - click
More news to come soon once it makes itself more solid and less jello-like.
Steve and I arrived back in Canada from Texas last night. What a time we had. If you're friends on Facebook, or have checked the MySpace recently, you'll see a sampling of pictures. Had great shows in Dallas, Austin and San Antonio - even played a special concert for Ms. Roch's 3rd Graders. Thanks so much to Music for Listeners, Tommy Hernandez, Chelsea, The Double Wide, Will Johnson, Marcus Rubio, Buttercup, Club 115, The Limelight and all of you who came to the shows. We hope to come back soon!
Fall plans are starting to shape up. We have a couple of Toronto shows on the horizon - I'm really glad to be back at the Horseshoe in November with Jon McKiel. That's a free show. We're working on more Fall/Winter tour dates, and Mark and I are sorting through when we'll get back in the studio to record the next full length.
I've recently learned that Darla Records is another place carrying the records, so if you're an American looking to purchase online, please visit Darla - they're a lovely company and deserve support.
Thanks to everyone who came to the FM Showcase at the Boat last Thursday! That was a great night.
We had an amazing time visiting Hamilton/London/Windosr this past weekend!

Keaton, July 27th - w/The Shelby Lamb Band) and Windsor (Phog Lounge, July 28th - w/TBA). how we think about light is currently charting on the college radio stations, especially in these out of town cities.
